2003-06-26 : Potentially a crackpot theory, but maybe not
Desmond Morris, the guy who wrote The Naked Ape, thinks that we developed spherical breasts at a certain evolutionary stage to mimic our buttocks so that we looked screwable at every angle all the time. The males of our species needed some indication that females were fertile since we were no longer experiencing visible estrus (easily seen in species that walk on all fours). He applies this logic to men's beards, which supposedly imitate their genital region. Hee!{6:30 p.m.}
